More than 80% of Ukrainian parents and teachers admit that there should be sex education at school.
About 40 percent of Ukrainian parents and 30 percent of teachers believe that LGBT kids should get treatment, and more than half of Ukrainian teachers and parents believe that girls who wear short clothes and bright makeup encourage boys to flirt with them.
More than 20 percent of Ukrainian parents and teachers cited their own psychological unpreparedness as a major obstacle to talking to children about sex. Other barriers include ignorance of how to start such a conversation, among parents, and among teachers, parental resistance.
More than 70 percent of Ukrainian parents and teachers believe that school sex education should include issues of personal safety, namely the rules of communication with strangers. Other popular topics include STD and contraception.
